On April 15, 2026, the 2026 China-Russia International Joint Design Workshop on Green Architecture officially kicked off at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.
As an important cooperation achievement of the Silk Road International Alliance of Architectural and Technological Universities, the Workshop is jointly initiated by the College of Architecture of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology and the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University of Russia, and has been successfully held for six consecutive sessions to date.


Relying on the Belt and Road Joint Laboratory of Green Building in Shaanxi Province, the Workshop aims to promote cooperative research and young talent training between China and Russia in the fields of green architecture, building industrialization and low-carbon cities.




Centering on the themes of green low-carbon development and sustainable human settlements, the workshop facilitates exchanges and mutual learning among young Chinese and Russian scholars through joint teaching, practical discussions and seminars. It further deepens bilateral cooperation in architectural education and scientific and technological innovation, contributing professional expertise to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative and global ecological governance.

Meanwhile, the Exhibition of Works of the 2026 China-Russia International Joint Design Workshop on Green Architecture was held concurrently with the theme Effortless Ingenuity: Shukhov's Structural Aesthetics and Poetics of Engineering, the exhibition offers an in-depth interpretation of the structural innovations and artistic achievements of Vladimir Shukhov, a towering Russian engineering master, and showcases the research outcomes completed by teachers and students from the two universities over more than a month.
