Under cooperation between Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) and Osh Technological University (OshTU), a signing ceremony marking the establishment of the XAUAT-OshTU International School of Architecture was held at XAUAT’s Yanta Campus on the morning of May 14. OshTU Rector Tursunbaev Zhanbolot Zhanyshovich was appointed as a part-time professor of XAUAT at the ceremony.

Ainura Isirailova, Head of the Department of Higher, Secondary Vocational and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Zhao Xiangmo, President of XAUAT, attended and addressed the ceremony. Vice President of XAUAT Chen Rong chaired the ceremony.

Present at the ceremony were Akmataliev Asanbek Turgunbaevich, Vice Rector of OshTU, Abdullaev Ulan, Director of OshTU Department of Educational Affairs, Kadyrova Nadira, an exchange student majoring in architecture, and heads of XAUAT International Relations Office, Personnel Department, College of Architecture, Institute for Interdisciplinary Innovation Research, School of International Education, and School of Language, Literature and Law.

Zhao Xiangmo said at the ceremony that the establishment of the XAUAT-OshTU International School of Architecture marks a new stage in bilateral cooperation. The school will focus on key areas such as the training of talents in architectural technology, the research in green building technology as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges, he said, to inject new vitality and impetus into the building of a community of shared future between China and the Kyrgyz Republic.

Ainura Isirailova said, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Education and Science will continue to support the cooperation between the two universities and expect the school to become a model of educational cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking highly of the cooperation achievements between the two universities, Tursunbaev Zhanbolot Zhanyshovich emphasized the role of the XAUAT-OshTU International School of Architecture as an important demonstration of their deepening strategic partnership. In the future, the school will fully rest on the advantages of the two universities to actively promote innovation and talent training in architectural technology in Central Asia, he said.

At the ceremony, Zhao Xiangmo presented Tursunbaev Zhanbolot Zhanyshovich with a part-time professor appointment letter. The two presidents also exchanged souvenirs and took a photo.

At the opening ceremony of the 2025 Conference of the SRIAATU held in XAUAT in the afternoon, the XAUAT-OshTU International School of Architecture was inaugurated by Shen Xuefeng who is a Vice Director of the Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government, Ainura Isirailova, Tursunbaev Zhanbolot Zhanyshovich and Zhao Xiangmo.

According to the agreement, the XAUAT-OshTU International School of Architecture will be built based on the advantages of the two universities, with the aim of training talents in civil engineering with a proficiency in the Chinese and Kyrgyz culture and an international horizon.

It plans to deepen collaboration in scientific research, promote the establishment of a joint laboratory in the Kyrgyz Republic, and accelerate the application of green building technology in Central Asia. Its goal also includes expanding cultural exchange projects such as teacher and student exchanges and joint design of courses.

As a top university in the field of civil engineering in China, XAUAT has actively served the Belt and Road Initiative over recent years and initiated the SRIAATU with 55 member universities and enterprises in 26 countries.

This in-depth cooperation with OshTU will further promote education and scientific research innovation in architectural technology along the Silk Road, and contribute wisdom and strength to the sustainable development of China, the Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asia at large.
