Vice President of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) Chen Rong visited Sri Lanka from December 15 to 17 upon the invitation of China-Sri Lanka Joint Research and Demonstration Center for Water Technology (JRDC).He attended the International Symposium on Climate Resilient Water Supply and Water Technology Exhibition, jointly organized by the JRDC and the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

On December 16, Chen made a presentation at the symposium and briefed the participants on XAUAT’s development, strengths, achievements and international cooperation in talent training. He also shared his team’s research results under the theme of “Achieving Carbon Neutral Treatment of Wastewater through Anaerobic Resource Utilization”.He met with Vice-Chancellor of University of Peradeniya Terrence Madhujith during the symposium, and the two had an exchange of views on cooperation in education, science and technology.

On December 17, Chen visited University of Moratuwa (UOM), a member of the SRIAATU. He briefed the UOM teachers and students on XAUAT’s development, recalled the establishment of the SRIAATU and invited UOM representatives to the SRIAATU annual meeting in 2025.

Later, he had an in-depth discussion with representatives from UOM’s External Affairs Division and Faculty of Architecture. The two sides reached a consensus on cooperation in areas such as exchanges between teachers and students as well as joint scientific research.UOM signed a cooperation memorandum with XAUAT in March 2023, and sent representatives to the Silk Road International Conference on Architecture and Technology held by XAUAT in October 2023.
