The welcome ceremony of China-Russia Workshop on International Joint Teaching on Green Building between Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) and Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (MGSU) was held in MGSU on June 9, 2024.

MGSU attendees included Academician of Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences Pavel Akimov, Director of the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning Armen Kazaryan, Head of the Department of Urban Planning Nina Danilina, Senior Lecturer Anna Korobeinikova and Senior Lecturer Irina Teplova.

XAUAT participants included Professor Chen Jing, Associate Professor Li Tao and Lecturer Wu Guanyu. Student representatives of the two universities were also present.

About the Lab

Since being listed as a provincial laboratory in December 2023 as a key achievement of SRIAATU cooperation, Shaanxi Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Green Building has established collaboration with MGSU and several other SRIAATU members on education and research in the discipline of Architecture.

About the Course

As one of the themes of architectural design VI of the College of Architecture, the workshop carries forward the teaching philosophy of basic architecture STUDIO, with the topic of the design project “Energy Efficiency Lab Building”.

It focuses on the concepts of prefabricated building and green building, and incorporates the design philosophy of Russian avant-garde. With the aim of completing a green and low-carbon Energy Efficiency Lab Building on the MGSU campus, it will help raise the students’ problem-solving awareness, environmental awareness and social responsibility.

XAUAT participants include three teachers and 17 students.

Welcome Ceremony

Academician Pavel Akimov and Director Armen Kazaryan gave welcome remarks at the ceremony that was held successfully on the morning of June 9 at the MGSU meeting room.

Professor Chen Jing, the Chinese chair of the course, briefed the Russia side on the history of XAUAT, its key majors and policies on international students.

Students were teamed up into nine groups, with each group consisting of both Chinese and Russia students. After the ceremony, teachers and students from the two sides exchanged gifts and took group photos.

During the visit, the two sides also had discussions on joint teaching in the future and other topics.

As one of the cooperation platforms of SRIAATU, China-Russia Workshop on International Joint Teaching has enhanced XAUAT’s practical exchanges with SRIAATU members. It has played a positive role in expanding the international horizons of XAUAT’s teachers and students, boosting its international cooperation, improving its global reputation and deepening its educational reform.
