A video conference on academic discipline, exchange and cooperation was held on May 17 between the College of Architecture of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) and the School of Art, Design and Architecture of Pakistan’s National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), a member university of the SRIAATU.
NUST participants included Professor Abdul Qayyum Khan, Principal of the School of Art, Design and Architecture, Professor Safi Ullah, Dean of the School, and Professor Zainab Javed, Director of the Department of Architecture.
XAUAT participants included Professor Lei Zhendong, Dean of the College of Architecture, Professor Dang Yutian, Vice Dean of the College, and Associate Professor Liu Xonggang. Professor Dang Yutian chaired the meeting, with the participation of relevant staff from the two sides.
Professor Lei Zhendong highlighted the importance of the XAUAT College of Architecture in China’s west, the whole country and along the Silk Road. He also briefed the participants on the College’s achievements in its long-term and in-depth research in fields such as design of green buildings, protection and utilization of historical buildings, regional architectures, urban renewal and landscape ecology.
He proposed the academic areas in which the two sides may carry out in-depth cooperation, and called on the two universities to take this meeting as an opportunity to join hands and efforts based on the sound partnership between China and Pakistan, in order to make greater contributions to talent cultivation and scientific research in the discipline of architecture in the two countries in the new era.
Professor Zainab Javed gave a detailed introduction to the major of architecture at the NUST School of Art, Design and Architecture, and invited teachers and students from the XAUAT College of Architecture to the summer design workshop to be held this August.
Professor Dang Yutian briefed the attendees on the history, academic characteristics as well as international exchanges and cooperation of the XAUAT College of Architecture.
The two sides held discussions on topics such as the summer workshop, academic exchanges and cooperation in scientific research.
The meeting has laid the foundation for friendly cooperation between the XAUAT College of Architecture and the NUST School of Art, Design and Architecture. The two sides reached a consensus on further strengthening in-depth exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields under the framework of the SRIAATU for a new chapter in their development.
